Del Valle ISD and each campus use multiple communication strategies to communicate both internally with staff and externally with parents and the community. The tools for communication are outlined below.
The Del Valle ISD Mobile App is an additional communications tool that is used to share important messages, emergency broadcasts, and access some of the most requested general information (lunch menus, athletic schedules, etc.). The mobile app can be downloaded from the iOS App Store and the Android Market by searching “Del Valle ISD.” The mobile app is not currently available for BlackBerry users.
Parents/Guardians – Parents/guardians who provide accurate emails at the start of each school year via student enrollment and re-enrollment will automatically be contacted with ENews. Phone numbers that are provided during enrollment using the District’s Skyward Family Access program are ONLY used for voice calls that regard the the health and safety of students. It is imperative that contact information is updated as it is changed.
Community/Staff– School Messenger offers a self sign-up feature for community and staff members who are interested in receiving email updates, voice calls that regard the the health and safety of students, and text messages. Visit the SchoolMessenger webpage and click “Sign Up Now” to get started.
Anyone, including parents, can opt in to receiving text messages from Del Valle ISD and applicable District campuses to any cell phone, by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 68453 from the cell phone on which you wish to receive sms texts. Anyone can opt out of receiving emergency text messages to any cell phone by texting “N” or “STOP” to 68453 from the cell phone on which you no longer wish to receive texts.
Skyward School Messenger Portal – Community/Staff that have self-created accounts through the Skyward School Messenger portal will have the option to include add a phone number which can be used for phone calls and text messages.
Parents/Guardians – The phone numbers we use for voice calls come from parent/guardian data that is collected from the District’s Skyward Family Access program. Contact data is collected at the start of each school year via student enrollment and re-enrollment. In order to receive important messages from the District it is imperative that contact information is updated as it is changed. The student’s home phone is used for regular voice calls.
Community/Staff – The phone numbers we use for voice calls are collected from from community/staff accounts that have been self-created through the Skyward School Messenger portal. To sign up now, go to https://asp.schoolmessenger.com/delvalle/subscriber. You will have the option to select which phone number to use for phone calls and text messages.
We frequently use Twitter to send out public reminders, updates, important news, and Points of Pride. You do not have to have a Twitter account to see the information the district posts to Twitter. Our Twitter account can be accessed by visiting the district or campus websites or by visiting www.twitter.com. Our Twitter handle is @DelValleISD.
Each campus also operates their own Twitter that can be found on all campus websites.
