As an educator with 18 years of experience, my passion has always been to ensure that all students know that they are capable and worthy of a top-notch education. Our students are the best and brightest and once they believe in themselves and believe that they can, they will achieve.

I believe in Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary, teachers, parents and most importantly, I believe in our students.  Hornsby-Dunlap is a school rich in tradition and history, in my four years I have met several grandparents, parents and District personnel that came through these doors. This school year we will be closing the doors on this Hornsby chapter and next year opening the doors to our new campus.  The students here at Hornsby deserve to walk in a building that they can be proud of, and I am excited to me able to be a part of that. The last two school years have been difficult, but our students and teachers are resilient and hard working and any learning loss will be made up throughout this year.

Every day during announcements we say our Hound Dog Pledge, this pledge was taken from the Amazing Rita Pierson, “I am somebody. I was somebody when I came here, and I will be a better somebody when I leave. I am powerful and I am strong. I deserve the education that I get here at Hornsby. I have things to do, people to respect and places to go.”

As the leader of Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary, I am honored and proud to serve our students and community.

Sincerely,

Helen Dunne Garcia
