Assistant Principal - Cavazos

My name is Sage Cavazos-Gonzalez (Mr. Cavazos), and I’m honored to join the Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary family for my first year as Assistant Principal. It’s a true privilege to begin serving our students, families, and staff in this wonderful community. My passion lies in creating an inclusive and empowering environment where all students—regardless of their home language—can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

I hold a Master’s degree in Bilingual & ESL Education from Texas A&M University, College Station, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University. I’m currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the leadership team, I served as a Third-Grade & 1st Grade Dual Language Teacher in La Vega ISD and also taught bilingual kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade ESL.

Mi nombre es Sage Cavazos-Gonzalez (Mr. Cavazos) y es un honor para mí unirme a la familia de la Escuela Primaria Hornsby-Dunlap en mi primer año como subdirector. Es un verdadero privilegio comenzar a servir a nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal en esta maravillosa comunidad. Mi pasión radica en crear un entorno inclusivo y empoderador donde todos los estudiantes, independientemente de su idioma materno, puedan prosperar académica, social y emocionalmente.

Tengo una maestría en Educación Bilingüe y ESL de la Universidad de Texas A&M, College Station, y una licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad de Baylor. Actualmente estoy cursando un doctorado en Educación en la Universidad Johns Hopkins. Antes de unirme al equipo de liderazgo, trabajé como maestro de lenguaje dual en tercer y primer grado en La Vega ISD, y también enseñé jardín de niños bilingüe, primer grado y ESL en cuarto grado.

Me entusiasma seguir creciendo junto a esta increíble comunidad y trabajar juntos para hacer que este año escolar sea excepcional.
